Founded in 1987, the Hernia Institute is one of the Nation's first dedicated Hernia Centers devoted specifically to the diagnosis, safe and effective contemporary repair of abdominal wall hernias.
Using both our own,as well as national outcomes data, as well as evidence based principles of patient-centered care, we continue to advance our practice and have developed significant experience and expertise in the ever-evolving Specialty of Hernia Surgery, and apply highly specified and advanced Tension-Free Surgical Techniques in the repair of most all abdominal wall hernias. This includes not only the more common Inguinal Hernias, but other primary, recurrent and complex hernias of the abdominal wall as well. We are not only highly excited, but remarkably pleased by the uniformly excellent results seen in our patients with these advanced surgical methods, applicable to most all hernia repairs.
Our contemporary surgical methods are tailored specifically to the individual needs and anatomic requirements of each patient. These methods are designed both to assure our patients of receiving a highly effective and safe hernia repair, as well as providing them with a repair technique which routinely permits patients to return to Normal Activity more rapidly, and with minimum restrictions on their physical and work activities. Utilizing a tension free approach allows patients to experience significantly less post-operative discomfort and have fewer limitations when compared to older 'conventional' hernia repair techniques still widely utilized. This advanced Tension-Free approach provides patients with the best surgical 'Answer' to their hernia problem in all aspects including:
- Effective for most all Hernia Types
- Minimal Post-Operative Discomfort
- Rapid Recovery and Return to Normal Activity
- Lowest Recurrence Rate of Any Available Technique
- Extremely Low Risk Procedure
- Well Tolerated by All Ages
- Local Anesthesia in Most Adult Cases (No Need for Risky General Anesthesia)
- Safe Surgery, even with multiple underlying medical problems.
